It was my first time to visit Pied Piper located in Ermita, Manila. It can easily be found by waze and I was happy that I didn’t have to struggle. Parking though was a bit of a challenge.
I was impressed that they’re open 24/7. Serving all day breakfast, lunch or dinner with different cocktails, beers etc. The food that they offer has a touch of Japanese ingredients to it which made me a bit ecstatic. The venue is just small so I could say that the dining experience here would be intimate. You can bring your friends or family for a night of good food and nice music. They have an acoustic session as well every weekend. So, if you’re up to a night of singing, look for a spot, no more. For the food, they have newly revamped their menu and here’s what we get to try:
Bacon BBQ Sushi Roll (Php 250) – This sushi topped with torched Bacon is a sure hit. I like the smoked flavor of the Bacon. My only comment is that the rice tends to break a bit.
Sizzling Japanese Sisig – I love anything Sisig. Their version did not disappoint. Drizzled with Japanese Mayo, it tasted good paired with a glass of beer.
Seafood Curry Noodles – Generous amount of Seafood. The Noodles were firm as well. One tasty noodles here, really that’s because of the curry. This was topped with some Nori.
Japanese Beef Stew (Php 320) – comes with a cup of rice. This dish is almost similar with our Pinoy version of Caldereta. It has potatoes, carrots and mushrooms. I loved that the meat was really tender and its sauce was thick and just plain delicious!
Big Breakfast – Chicken Sausage was lovely. It tasted different than the other. This was their pride and now I know why. Love the flavor of it from each bite. There’s Toast, Bacon, Ham and Eggs on the side too.
Bacon Miso Soup (Php 220) – The savory soup and the sweet Bacon did not meet my expectation. It contradicts one another. I prefer to eat them separately.
Baby Back Ribs (Php 680) – The fall-of-the-bone goodness of the ribs and its sauce was a perfect match. Definitely one of their best, in my opinion.
Tuna Panga for 500g (Php 340) – This was flavored throughout the fish meat. I loved that it was grilled perfectly and that the sauce was there in every bite.
(Note that some of the items are new and prices are still not disclosed.)
Now for the alcoholic drinks, you choose from their available cocktails. They have Tequila Sunrise, Strawberry Margarita, Mojito, Beer Blush and the classic Margarita.
Everything tasted great but what stood out the most to me was the Tequila Sunrise. I love that it the alcohol was almost not noticeable here. The orange juice probably made me love it even more!
Pied Piper definitely provides good food. I might drop by again to try other dishes they offer. This is a place where you can actually grab a drinks and wait for the Manila traffic to subside.
