Café Adriatico is a legend when it comes to great food and superb dining experience. They stood the test of time being around since 1979 and they continue to bring delight to their customers. They started the business as an antique shop that transpired to a café. They also pioneered the café society in Manila which later on expanded to bistros and bars founded by Larry J. Cruz.

The atmosphere in Café Adriatico is still charming up to date. Though the second floor caught fire which damaged the original paintings and antiques, it still has that rustic and vintage vibe.

We started the meal with a memorable Salad.  It was memorable to me because it’s been a long time that I’ve had a Salad that has both vegetables and fruits in it.

Ensalada Esmeralda – There’s dried cranberries, apples, orange and greens. It was drizzled with raspberry yogurt. It was definitely refreshing.

Akuw’a (Yemeni Oxtail) (Php 625) – Cooked to tender. You can really tell that this was stewed for long hours. Its sauce was thick and full of flavor. It tasted a bit sweet yet savory probably due to the Hawayij spice in it.

Chicken  A La Kiev (Php 395) – One of their classic dishes.  The chicken inside the batter were still juicy and it was cooked just right. I liked that the batter was not greasy at all. There’s crisp fresh vegetables on the side too that was tossed in butter.

Prawns Thermidor (Php 675) – Two large prawns in Hollandaise cream sauce topped with melted cheese. This is by far one of the best prawn dishes I’ve tasted. The prawns were fresh and cooked perfectly. The Pilaf rice were a great pair to it as well.

Canonigo – This fluffy egg whites just melts in your mouth. It has some custard sauce and fresh mango chunks on the side. This is such a perfect end to a meal.

I definitely enjoyed having a lunch in Café Adriatico. This restaurant should be on your list if you wanted to have a truly classic dining experience. Can’t wait to go back with mom here soon.
